- ICANN's New TLD Application Instructions (15-Aug-00)

At its July 16, meeting in Yokohama, Japan, the ICANN Board of Directors considered adopting a policy under which new TLDs would be introduced. In anticipation of this meeting, expressions of interest were invited from parties seeking to operate and/or sponsor any new TLD registry. Interest in the following TLDs were submitted by ICANN's July 10, 2000 deadline. Several proposed TLDs received multiple expressions of interest. The formal application process, posted on August 3, 2000, included a non-refundable $50,000 fee. Applications (including all supporting materials and application fees) were accepted from September 5 until October 2, 2000.
