The
subscriber mailing lists, shown below in alphabetical
order, explore the domain name system and Internet
management issues in detail. They provide an excellent
way to network with others who share similar interests.
The comments of individual mailing lists are generally
archived and accessible for anyone to read, but
participation, in most cases, requires submission of a
(free) subscriber form. Contact individual list hosts,
not the archive address, for subscription details.
On
May 24, 2001, the Domain Policy list, hosted by
Network Solutions since March of 1996, was
summarily shut down and all the archives were
removed. VeriSign's list administrator, Tom
Newell, posted the unexpected and terse
announcement at 11:14 EST:
This
list will be closed effective immediately.
When we started the list many years ago,
there were no lists specifically focusing on
domain policy issues. Today there are a wide
range of public lists that address this
topic.
Thank
you very much for your
participation.
Please
refer all queries to Brian O'Shaughnessy, of
VeriSign's Corporate Communications
department at
boshaughnessy@verisign.com.

We
urge all those who have participated in this
forum to write to Tom
Newell,
List Administrator and Brian
O Shaughnessy,
Public Relations Director, requesting that
VeriSign restore the archives, which chronicle
the community debate on the evolution of the
domain name industry. A partial archive since
1999 is available as a 13mb zip file courtesy of
