INTERNATIONAL
FORUM ON THE WHITE PAPER
- "Frankly,
if I were Ira Magaziner, I'd accept for
consideration a draft from the Devil
himself if it met the White Paper's
criteria. I wouldn't give a damn who the
source is.

Release
- In it's most recent teleconference, the
Steering Committee of the International
Forum on the White Paper (IFWP) was advised
that the proposed September 12th -13th "Berkman
Center meeting" has been cancelled. A separate
release has been issued to that effect.
- As a consequence, the IFWP Steering
Committee has cancelled the proposed
"ratification meeting", which was to be held on
September 19th.
- The IFWP Steering Committee will consider to
facilitate further meetings if something
meaningful remains to be done in the context of
the White
Paper process.

Because progress is being made in private and
ongoing negotiations between two critical (and
previously most-at-odds) stakeholders--IANA
and NSI--the
Berkman
Center is cancelling the White Paper compromise
and negotiation meeting scheduled for next week,
September 11-13. The IFWP Steering Committee (of
which we're not a member) is currently discussing
the status of the proposed public meeting on
September 19 and is the source for any news on
that.
We're mindful of the difficulties caused to
potential participants by the uncertainties of our
meeting; there's been no easy way to nail things
down without getting ahead of the one-on-one talks
taking place even now among major stakeholders.
